The Flash Development Toolkit (FDT) application is the latest FLASH
programming interface supplied by Renesas. This can be used to support BOOT
and USER mode flash programming for both Renesas devices in Development Kits
and User's hardware. FDT supports many Renesas FLASH microcontrollers, with
support for new devices added as they become available.
FDT is a 32-bit application that provides a workspace based environment. The
user can create multiple projects where the target device and mode of
connection can be selected, along with any specific communications
requirements within a workspace. This allows for many forms of connection to
Flash devices to be supported from a single workspace. The workspace also
allows a number of data files to be included which can be merged to form a
single 'image' file. There is a setup wizard to help create new workspaces
customised to the user's requirements. The FDT Project Wizard will guide you
through the necessary steps to create a project. The project wizard gives
interactive help as you change settings. Simple Interface Mode and FDT Basic
Mode allow programming using a simplified GUI.
